Getting disconnected from the server while in Outlook Express is a common problem.


The following steps work for Outlook Express versions 5 - 6 only.

  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. Click Tools at the top.
  3. Click Options from within the Tools menu.

  4. Click the Connection tab from the top of the menu.
  5. Put a check next to Ask before switching dial-up connections.
  6. Uncheck Hang up after sending and receiving.
  7. Click OK at the bottom.

  8. Click Tools at the top.
  9. Click Accounts from within the Tools menu.

  10. Click the Mail tab of the Internet Accounts window.
  11. Highlight your BCPL account name and click Properties to the right.
  12. Your account name may or may not be mail.websecure.net.au.

  13. Click the Connection tab at the top of the window.
  14. Put a check next to Always connect to this account using: and make sure WebSecure(or whatever you named your connection) is in the white box directly below.
  15. Click OK at the bottom.
  16. Click Close at the bottom right of the Internet Accounts window.
