What is propagation?

Propagation is the term used when you change the name servers for your domain, and when your domain starts pointing to the new name servers. For example, if you were changing from an old hosting company to a new one, after you change the name servers for your domain, it will take some time (up to 24 hours) to see the new hosting company’s hosting – this is propagation.

How do I redirect my domain name to my website?

To redirect your domain name to your website, your hosting company should be able to provide you with “name servers”, which are two addresses that used to link your domain name with your hosting.

If you don’t have name servers, if your hosting company has given you an IP address, or if you want to redirect your domain to free hosting space you have with your ISP, you will need to purchase a product called the Domain Manager.

Managing domain A/CNAME/MX records

Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the registration of a domain from one name to another. Domain licence's are non-transferable. If you want a new domain name, you will need to register it separately, then let your old name lapse.

Transferring the Ownership of my Domain

The steps for changing the ownership of a domain name will depend on the type of domain. Please see the domain type below for more information:
