3.8 Million Reasons to be Happy about our New Spam Filter

There is no doubt that Spam emails are one of the most annoying aspects of being online and Web Secure fights an ongoing battle to keep your mailboxes as free from junk email as possible. Many customers had told us that the number of Spam emails reaching their in-boxes had increased substantially recently, so in response Web Secure began trialing a new spam filter in the second week of September.
In the first day of operation, this trial blocked 3.8 million Spam emails.

That’s 3.8 million offers of cheap pharmaceuticals, online degrees and other more offensive items that will never make it to your in-box.
The new spam filter utilizes Real-time Black Listing technology (RBL) to identify and banish unwanted emails at the server before they choke your in-box. The new filter refers to a blacklist of known Spammers and blacklisted IP addresses. This means that if a particular computer has been used to send Spam emails in the past, the filter will screen all subsequent emails from that computer.
Through increased accuracy of identification the new filter also reduces the risk of blocking legitimate emails, causing the least amount of disruption to your business.
Whilst no Spam filter will ever be 100% effective, the success of this trial means we will be adopting this system permanently, meaning less email related headaches for you.
