Wireless hardware security warning
Websecure would like to advice you of potential security issues which may occur through using wireless hardware. Please read prior to using your NetComm NB5Plus4W wireless modem/router.
Wireless communication uses radio frequencies to transfer data between devices. This can allow unauthorised users to take malicious action against your wireless network and Internet connection. Potential security issues may include:
Use of your Internet connection by an unknown user without your consent
Interception of data and files
Denial of Service (DoS) attacks
Hijacking of your NetComm NB5Plus4W modem/router
The NetComm NB5Plus4W modem/router includes security measures, which if used in conjunction with each other, provide an intermediary level of wireless security and greatly reduces the chance of security issues. Websecure will not be liable for any security breaches in your wireless network, and recommends that you apply the below security measures:
Use a unique SSID (Service Set ID)
Disable the broadcasting of the SSID after wireless configuration
Enable WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encryption
Use of MAC authentication lists
Change the NetComm NB5Plus4W modem router default username and password
Enable the NetComm firewall features
Use the NetComm Set-up Wizard
For further security information, please read the CD instruction manual supplied with your NetComm NB5Plus4W modem/router, or contact our Technical Support team on support@websecure.net.au
