Please note: Serviced Firewall is NOT suitable if you are running servers, such as mail or web.
Application Filtering
Application filtering controls the types of inbound and outbound traffic passing through your connection.
 |
Inbound Traffic - Serviced Firewall will block all remote inbound connections to your internal devices.
- Web - Block/allow traffic to your web server
- Mail - Block/allow traffic to your mail server
- SSH - Block/allow SSH traffic to your connection
|
 |
Outbound Traffic - There are three outbound application filtering options that you can choose for your outbound traffic. These settings are also detailed in the table below. |
| |
-
Standard - Does not block any outbound traffic. Allows ability to surf the web, check email, transfer files, remotely connect to servers/computers, and use all other IP protocols.
-
Office - Allows access to surf the web, check email and transfer files. Excludes remote access to servers/computers, instant messaging and all other IP protocols.
-
Remote - Allows access to surf the web, check email and transfer files and remotely connect to servers/computers. Excludes access to all other IP protocols.
Please note: Serviced Firewall does not block pornography or illicit websites. |

Intrusion Detection System (IDS)
An intrusion detection system (IDS) inspects all inbound/outbound network traffic, identifies and blocks dangerous or suspicious pattens of traffic (IDS signatures). There are three levels of intrusion detection available;
- Total - All IDS signatures are blocked including those not necessarily considered an attack.
- Active - Only IDS signatures considered an attack are blocked.
- No IDS - No IDS signatures are blocked. IDS is disabled.
